Exam Overview
GACE Engineering and Technology (P–12), assessment 739, is a content assessment in the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators program. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) sets certification requirements, and Pearson administers the GACE assessments for the Commission.
The Testlet Structure
Assessment 739 is divided into three testlets. Each testlet is a separately timed set of selected-response questions. You can take all three testlets in one appointment or register for them separately and build your result one testlet at a time.
| Testlet | Content Area |
|---|---|
| 331 | Nature and Core Concepts of Technology and Engineering |
| 332 | Engineering Design and Applications of Technological Processes |
| 333 | Impact of Technology on Society |
Question Format
- Selected-response (multiple-choice) questions with four answer choices
- Short scenarios about a design challenge, a production process, a laboratory, a student team or a community technology decision
- Calculations: forces, work and power, Ohm's law, mechanical advantage, stress and strain, gear ratios, schedules and reliability
- Interpretation of drawings, data tables, decision matrices and test results
What Each Testlet Emphasizes
| Testlet | You must be able to |
|---|---|
| 331 | Explain what technology and engineering are, the universal systems model, resources, controls, technological literacy and the science and math that engineering applies |
| 332 | Apply the engineering design process, technical drawing and CAD, modeling and testing, project management and the manufacturing, construction, energy and communication processes |
| 333 | Evaluate the social, economic, ethical, cultural and environmental effects of technology, technology assessment, sustainability and the history of technological change |
Scoring
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Score scale | 100–300 scaled score |
| Passing standard | GACE content assessments use two passing levels: 220 (induction) and 250 (professional); confirm the standard for assessment 739 on your score report or the GACE website |
| Scaled scores | Adjust for small differences in difficulty between test forms, so a scaled score means the same thing on every form |
| Wrong answers | Your score is based on the number of questions answered correctly, so answer every question |
Fees and Registration
| Registration | Fee |
|---|---|
| All three testlets (331, 332, 333) together | $169.00 |
| One testlet taken separately | $56.50 each |
- Create an account and register on the GACE website
- Testing is computer-based; choose a test center or any available remote option when you register
