The Constructed-Response Assignment
The constructed-response assignment (competency 0018) presents exhibits from an FCS class, such as a description of the class, a lesson plan and student work or assessment results. You explain how the lesson's strategies and activities support its objectives, analyze the students' results, and describe how you would use those results to plan follow-up instruction. Responses of roughly 300–600 words are scored by trained educators on a four-point scale for purpose, subject matter knowledge, support and rationale. Section 8 covers the assignment in detail.
How Scoring Works
Your performance on the selected-response questions (85%) and the constructed-response assignment (15%) is combined and converted to a scaled score. A scaled score of 240 or higher passes. Your score report also shows how you performed in each subarea, which is useful for planning a retake if one is needed.
