The Two Content Categories
Content Categories and Weights
| Category | About How Many Questions | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| I Properties of Geometric Plane Shapes, Congruence, Similarity, Proof, Constructions, and Trigonometry | 24 | 48% |
| II Coordinate Geometry, Circles, Three-Dimensional Geometry, and Geometric Modeling | 26 | 52% |
With 130 minutes for 50 questions, you have about 2 minutes 36 seconds per question. That is generous compared with most Praxis tests, and it reflects how much reasoning each question needs. Use the time to sketch, label and check.
Question Types
The practice tests in this guide print every question with four choices so that they can be checked quickly. For computation questions, work the problem to a value before you look at the choices, as you would for a numeric-entry question on the real test. For proof questions, decide what the missing statement or reason must be before you read the options.
Figures on the Test
Unless a question says otherwise, all numbers are real numbers, coordinates are rectangular, and figures are drawn to scale. Lines that look straight are straight, and points on a line are in the order shown. Because this book cannot show the screen, its practice questions describe each figure in words or coordinates. Draw the figure yourself as you read; that habit pays off on test day.
How the Test Is Scored
Your raw score is the number of scored questions you answer correctly. It is converted to a scaled score. Some questions are being tried out for future use and do not count, but they are not marked, so treat every question as if it counts. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so answer every question.
Each state or agency that uses test 5163 sets its own passing score. Check the requirement for your state on the Praxis website before you test.
