The Praxis Health and Physical Education: Content Knowledge (5857) test is administered by ETS for candidates seeking licensure to teach health and physical education in K–12 schools. It assesses the knowledge and teaching skills of both disciplines: 58 questions address health education and 72 address physical education. Many questions present a classroom scenario and ask for the most appropriate teaching decision rather than a stand-alone definition.
Exam Pattern and Structure
The test is a single computer-delivered session of 130 selected-response questions in 130 minutes, or one minute per question. Questions are organized into five content categories: two for health education and three for physical education. Some questions may be unscored pretest items that are not identified, so answer every question carefully.
