Exam Overview
Thetsia2Mathematicstest
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is the state's college-readiness assessment, developed by the College Board in partnership with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and delivered on the ACCUPLACER platform at college and university testing centers. It has two parts, English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and Mathematics; this guide prepares you for the Mathematics part. Unless you qualify for an exemption, you must meet the college-readiness standard in mathematics, or complete required developmental support, before enrolling in entry-level college math courses at a Texas public institution.
Exam Pattern
The mathematics test begins with the College Readiness Classification (CRC) test: 20 multiple-choice questions, each with four answer choices, delivered on a computer. The test is adaptive, so the difficulty of each question depends on how you answered earlier ones. Each answer is submitted before the next question appears, so work every question carefully before moving on. If your CRC score is below the benchmark, you continue to the diagnostic test: 48 multiple- choice questions, 12 in each content area, which identifies your skill level in each area for course placement.

Scoring and the College-Readiness Benchmark
The CRC test is scored on a scale of 910 to 990, and scores are reported as soon as you finish. You meet the mathematics college-readiness standard in either of two ways:

Diagnostic results describe your skill level in each of the four content areas. Colleges use them to place students who are not yet college-ready into the right developmental course or co-requisite support, which pairs a credit-bearing math course with extra instruction.
Calculators and Question Style
Personal calculators are not allowed. On questions where a calculator is permitted, a pop-up calculator appears on screen: a basic four-function calculator, a square root calculator, or a graphing calculator (TI-84 style), depending on the question. Many questions have no calculator, so accurate hand computation remains essential. Questions are discrete multiple-choice items; many present a real-world situation, a table, or a graph and ask you to model, compute, or interpret.
